Naples Florida Was Just Voted America’s Best Place to Live
Naples, FL, renowned for its warm weather, low taxes, and relaxed lifestyle, has been named America’s best place to live by US News and World Report.
The annual report describes Naples as a "playground for the powerful and wealthy" and a favored spot for retirees. However, living in this paradise comes at a cost—home prices in Naples are more than double the national average. Following Naples in the rankings are Boise, ID, Colorado Springs, CO, and Greenville, SC.
For locals, Naples' top ranking is no surprise. Long-time resident Mark Danni praises the city for its daily sunshine and vibrant performing arts scene. Naples' climb in the rankings, from sixth place in previous years, is due to its strong job market, low 3.6% unemployment rate, and a median household income of $98,120—significantly above the national average. Additionally, the city's crime rate is well below the national average.
The best places to live were evaluated based on affordability, happiness, healthcare, retiree taxes, desirability, and job market. Erika Giovanetti from US News and World Report points out that economic stability and job market strength were key factors in this year's rankings.
Despite the benefits, high living costs driven by rising interest rates and inflation are a concern. Boise, ID, ranked second, experienced a surge in home prices during the pandemic, while Colorado Springs, CO, and Greenville, SC, ranked third and fourth, respectively, each offer unique benefits and challenges.
The top ten is completed by Charlotte, NC; Raleigh, NC; Huntsville, AL; Virginia Beach, VA; Austin, TX; and Boulder, CO.
